MACHINE-MITERED JACKET BANDS

(Stitch sizes are for Tamm Diamante and similar yarns for standard 4.5 mm machines.)

Double Slip Cast-On (DBSLCO) -- Cast on with scrap yarn and ravel cord. Attach main yarn. Pull every other needle to Hold Position. Set machine to SLIP. Knit 1 row. Pull every other alternating needle to Hold Position. Knit 1 row. Set machine to normal. Knit as directed.

FRONTS -- Cast on with scrap yarn and ravel cord. End with COL. *Do double slip cast-on (DBSLCO) @ SS8. RC 000. SS4. Knit 2 rows. RC 002. Increase 1 stitch on center front edge every 2 rows to RC 10. Be sure to increase on RC 10. (An increase of 5 stitches.) SS10. Knit 1 row. RC 11. (COR) Knit 1 row @ SS4. RC 12. Decrease 1 stitch every 2 rows to RC 22. Always place empty needles in Non-Working Position. Knit 2 rows @ SS4. Hang hem from loops of DBSLCO. Knit 1 row at SS7.* (COR) Zero out row counter and knit per pattern. Knit other front the same. Hang neck edge. Knit from * to *.

(COR) Hold garment front up to machine to determine how many needles are needed for the length of the front band. Hang front edge with WRONG SIDE of garment facing you. Knit 1 row to left. Do a DBSLCO. RC 000. Hang loop from neck edge and waist edge onto end needle. Knit 2 rows. RC 002. Now, increase 1 stitch on each end every 2 rows 5 times by hanging loop from neck edge and waist end out one needle. Knit 1 row. SS10. Knit 1 row to RC 12. Then decrease 1 stitch every 2 rows to RC 22 by moving and hanging a loop from neck edge and waist edge onto end needles. The move end stitch over 1 needle. (Means end needle will have a stitch and a loop on it. Move both over 1 needle for decrease.) Knit 2 rows. SS4. Hang ham from loops of DBSLCO. Bind off loosely.
